Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “overnight oats” things all over the internet, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I went with a chocolate chip cookie dough flavor because, well, who doesn’t love cookie dough?

Getting Started

First, I gathered my ingredients. I didn’t have everything, so I made some substitutions. It’s all about using what you’ve got, right?

  • Rolled oats (obviously!)
  • Milk (I used regular, but almond or soy would work too)
  • Chia seeds (these are supposed to make it thicker)
  • Greek yogurt (for extra protein and creaminess)
  • Maple syrup (because I didn’t have any honey)
  • Vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Cashew butter(for making cookie dough taste.)

Mixing It Up

I threw everything into a jar – I didn’t even measure precisely. I just eyeballed it. I started with the oats, then poured in the milk until they were covered. Then I added a spoonful of chia seeds, a big dollop of yogurt, a drizzle of maple syrup, a splash of vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Finally, i made cookie dough flavor by mixing cashew butter, little suger and chocolate chips. I stirred it all up until it looked kinda mixed. It wasn’t pretty, but hey, it’s going in the fridge overnight.

The Waiting Game

This was the hardest part! I stuck the jar in the fridge and tried to forget about it. I was pretty curious to see if it would actually turn into something edible.

The Big Reveal

The next morning, I grabbed the jar and took a look. It definitely looked thicker than it did last night. The chia seeds did their thing! I gave it a good stir and took a bite.

And you know what? It was pretty good! The oats were soft, the chocolate chips added some sweetness, and that all in all, it was like a healthy version of cookie dough, I did it!

I’m definitely going to keep experimenting with different flavors. Maybe peanut butter and banana next time? Or some kind of berry mix? The possibilities are endless!
