Today, I’m going to share a little cooking adventure I had. I wanted to make something called a “Robert Redford dessert.” Sounds fancy, right? Well, it’s not as complicated as it sounds. But let me tell you, the results were pretty darn good.
First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I’m talking about butter, some vanilla wafers, cream cheese, powdered sugar, that Cool Whip stuff, and chocolate pudding mix. Oh, and some graham crackers for the crust. I made sure I had everything laid out ’cause once you start, you don’t wanna be running around looking for things.
Next, I preheated my oven to 350 degrees. While that was warming up, I got to work on the crust. I took those graham crackers and mixed them with some melted butter. I pressed that whole mixture into the bottom of an 8×8 pan I had. Into the oven it went for about 8-10 minutes. I just wanted it to get a little crispy, you know?

While the crust was baking, I combined the cream cheese with the powdered sugar in a bowl. I mixed them until they were all nice and smooth. After the crust was done, I pulled it out of the oven and let it cool down for a bit.
- Gather ingredients: butter, vanilla wafers, cream cheese, powdered sugar, Cool Whip, chocolate pudding mix, graham crackers.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix graham crackers with melted butter.
- Press mixture into an 8×8 pan.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Combine cream cheese and powdered sugar.
- Let crust cool.
The Real Deal
Once everything was cool enough to handle, I started building the rest of this dessert. I spread that cream cheese mixture over the crust. I’m not gonna lie, I might have snuck a taste at this point. It was good!
Then I made the chocolate pudding according to the instructions on the box and poured that over the cream cheese layer. Finally, I topped the whole thing with a generous layer of Cool Whip. Because why not?
I stuck the whole pan in the fridge for a few hours to let it set. I was pretty impatient, I wanted to dig in right away. But it’s better when it’s cold and all the layers have had time to meld together.
When it was finally time to try it, man, it was worth the wait. That crunchy crust with the creamy, sweet layers on top? It was a real treat. It just melted in my mouth. I’ll definitely be making this again sometime. Maybe next time I’ll even add some pecans to the crust like I saw in one of the recipes. If you’re looking for an easy but impressive dessert to make, give this one a try. You won’t regret it!
