Okay, so, I really wanted to make a smoothie this morning, but guess what? I was totally out of yogurt. I know, right? Yogurt is like, the smoothie staple. But hey, no problem, I was like, “I can totally do this without yogurt.”
First things first, I grabbed a couple of bananas from the fruit bowl. I always keep some on hand cause they’re great for a quick snack. These were ripe, which is perfect for smoothies, makes ’em nice and sweet. Peeled them, and broke them into chunks, then threw them in the blender.
Now, I’ve heard that some folks use frozen bananas, and that’s cool, it makes the smoothie extra thick and cold. But mine were just regular room temperature ones, and you know what? It worked just fine.

- Banana: 2
- Milk: 1 cup
- Peanut Butter: 1 teaspoon
- Ice: Some
Since I didn’t have any yogurt, I thought, “What else can make this creamy?” And then it hit me – milk! I just poured in about a cup, didn’t really measure it, just eyeballed it. You can use any kind of milk, I used regular, but almond or soy would probably be good too. Oh, and get this, I even threw in a spoonful of peanut butter because, why not? It adds a little extra flavor and some protein.
Then, to make it cold, I just tossed in a handful of ice cubes. Zapped everything in the blender for a minute or two, until it was all smooth and creamy, no lumps at all.
Result
Poured it into a glass, and bam! A super yummy banana smoothie, without any yogurt. It was sweet, creamy, and just what I needed to start my day. Turns out, you don’t really need yogurt to make a killer smoothie. Who knew, right?
