Okay, here’s my post about making those white chocolate haystacks with Rice Krispies:
Alright, so the other day I got this crazy craving for something sweet, but I didn’t want to go through all the trouble of baking. I remembered these no-bake treats called “haystacks” that my grandma used to make. They’re super easy and really hit the spot. This time, I decided to switch it up a bit and use white chocolate and Rice Krispies. Let me tell you, it was a good call!
Getting Started
First things first, I gathered all my ingredients. I grabbed a bag of white chocolate chips, you know, the baking kind. Then, I got a box of Rice Krispies cereal, some mini marshmallows, and this package of chow mein noodles – yeah, the crunchy ones you put in salads. I know it sounds weird, but trust me, they add a nice crunch. I also made sure I had some wax paper. That’s important because you don’t want these things sticking to your countertop.

Melting the Chocolate
Next up, I melted the white chocolate. I just dumped the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and zapped them in the microwave. I did it in 30-second intervals, stirring each time. You gotta be careful not to burn the chocolate, it can get all grainy and gross. Once it was all smooth and melty, I took it out of the microwave.
Mixing Everything Up
This is where it all comes together. I poured the Rice Krispies, mini marshmallows, and chow mein noodles into the bowl with the melted chocolate. Then, I just started mixing it all up with a big spoon. You want to make sure everything is evenly coated with the chocolate. It gets a bit messy, but that’s part of the fun, right?
Forming the Haystacks
Once everything was all mixed up, I laid out a sheet of wax paper on the counter. Then, I started scooping out the mixture onto the wax paper, making little haystack shapes. I just used a regular spoon, nothing fancy. You can make them as big or as small as you want. I went for medium-sized ones, about a couple of spoonfuls each.
Letting Them Cool
After all the haystacks were formed, I just let them sit there on the wax paper to cool down and harden. It doesn’t take too long, maybe like 30 minutes or so. You can speed it up by popping them in the fridge if you’re impatient like me.
The Result
- Appearance: They looked pretty cool, all white and bumpy from the cereal and noodles.
- Texture: Crunchy, chewy, and a little bit sticky – in a good way!
- Taste: Sweet, but not too sweet. The white chocolate goes really well with the cereal and the slight saltiness of the noodles.
These white chocolate haystacks with Rice Krispies turned out to be a real winner. They’re super easy to make, you don’t need to bake anything, and they taste amazing. Plus, they’re a fun little project to do if you’re bored or just need a quick sugar fix. I ended up making a big batch, and they were gone in no time. Everyone who tried them loved them. I’ll definitely be making these again soon!
