This here’s about that kraft baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs, you know, the kind you bake up good in the oven. My grandkids, they just love it when I make it for ’em. They gobble it up faster than a chicken on a June bug!
First off, you gotta get yourself a box of that Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. You know, the one in the blue box. I always get the big one, cause them young’uns can eat. Then you need some bread, any kind will do, but I like to use that stale stuff. Save a penny here and there, you know. You just crumble it up real good. Them bread crumbs, they make it all crunchy on top. Oh, it’s so good!
Gettin’ Started
- Boil up some water in a big ol’ pot. Throw in a pinch of salt, like your mama taught ya.
- Dump in that macaroni and let it cook till it’s soft, but not too mushy.
- Drain that water off and put the macaroni back in the pot.
Now comes the good part. You gotta make that cheese sauce. Open up that little packet of cheese powder that comes in the box. It looks kinda funny, but it tastes real good, I tell ya. Add some butter, gotta have butter, and a splash of milk. I use the whole milk, makes it richer. Stir it all up with that macaroni till it’s all nice and creamy. Some folks like to add a little black pepper, or that paprika stuff, makes it a bit fancy. Or you can throw in some tuna, if you got some. That makes it a whole meal. My grandkids, they love it with tuna.

Bakin’ It Up
Now you gotta get yourself a bakin’ dish. I use that old glass one my mama gave me. Grease it up with some butter so nothin’ sticks. Then pour in that cheesy macaroni. Now for the bread crumbs. Sprinkle them all over the top. Don’t be shy now, use a good amount. If you like, you can mix a little melted butter with them bread crumbs, makes ’em brown up real nice. You want a good crunch, that’s what my grandbabies say. More crunch, grandma! They yell.
Then you pop it in the oven. I usually set it to 350 degrees. Just keep an eye on it. You want them bread crumbs to get all golden brown and crispy, but you don’t want to burn ’em. Takes about 20 minutes, maybe a little longer, depends on your oven. Every oven is a little different, you know. Sometimes I put a little cheese on top with the bread crumbs. Makes it extra cheesy, extra crunchy.
Time to Eat!
When it’s done, take it out of the oven and let it cool just a bit. You don’t want to burn your tongue. Then dish it up. My grandkids, they like a big ol’ scoop. And they always ask for seconds. It’s a real crowd-pleaser, that kraft baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs. That creamy cheese with the crunchy bread crumbs. Oh, it’s just the best!
You know, sometimes, I like to add a little somethin’ extra. Like I said, tuna is good. Or sometimes I’ll chop up some hot dogs and throw them in there. The kids love that. You can even add some vegetables if you want. I sneak in some peas sometimes. Don’t tell the kids though. They probably won’t eat it if they knew there’s vegetables in it. I know how them kids are.
This kraft baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs, it’s a simple thing, but it sure is tasty. Reminds me of when I was a little girl. My mama used to make it for us. Not with the Kraft stuff, though. We didn’t have that back then. She made it all from scratch. Took a lot longer, but it was good, too. But the Kraft one, it’s easier, especially when you’re in a hurry. You can use that celery salt stuff too, makes it taste a bit different. Or mayo, some people put mayo in it. I don’t, but some do.
Why It’s So Good
I think the reason why everyone loves this kraft baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs is because it’s just so comforting. It’s warm and cheesy and filling. And that crunch on top, well, that just makes it extra special. It’s like a hug in a bowl, you know? Makes you feel good inside. Just good old fashioned food, that’s what it is. It ain’t fancy, but it sure is good. And it’s easy to make, so anyone can do it. Even if you ain’t much of a cook, you can make this. Trust me.
So next time you’re lookin’ for somethin’ easy and tasty to make, give this kraft baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs a try. You won’t be sorry. And your family will love you for it. My grandkids, they sure do love their grandma’s mac and cheese. They say it’s the best in the whole world. And you know what? I think they might be right.
