Okay, so the other day I was making cookies, and the recipe called for 12 ounces of chocolate chips. I only had a measuring cup, and I was like, “Shoot, how many cups is that?” I didn’t want to mess up the cookies, you know? They had to be perfect!
Figuring it Out
So, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. It said somewhere that 1 cup of chocolate chips is about 6 ounces. Phew, easy math!
- Started with: 12 ounces of chocolate chips
- Learned: 1 cup = 6 ounces
- Did some quick division: 12 ounces / 6 ounces/cup = 2 cups
So to get from 12 oz to cups I divided the Total Ounces by how much 1 cup weighed.
That means a 12-ounce bag of chocolate chips is equal to 2 cups. I carefully measured out the chocolate chips, dumped them into the batter, and baked those cookies. They turned out delicious, by the way! All thanks to knowing that little conversion trick.
