Okay, so I’ve been on this lasagna kick lately. I made a huge batch last weekend, and I’ve been eating it for days. It’s delicious, but I needed something sweet to go with it, you know? Something to cut through all that rich, cheesy, meaty goodness. So, I started brainstorming, what’s a good dessert to go along with lasagna?
My first thought was, “keep it Italian!” So, I started looking into classic Italian desserts.
My Dessert Experiment
- Tiramisu: Classic, right? Coffee, ladyfingers, mascarpone… It sounded good in theory.
So, I made a small batch, layered everything and let it chill in the fridge for few hours.
It was my frist time to make tiramisu. I tested after my lasagana. But, it felt a bit too rich after the lasagna. Like, overkill.
- Cannoli: Crispy shells, sweet ricotta filling… I love cannoli.
Then, I went to the store and bought some cannoli shells and the filling.
I filled these shells, I think it is easy to prepare. After the dinner, ate one.
They were tasty, but the crunch and the creamy filling was a weird texture contrast after the soft lasagna.
- Gelato: Now we’re talking! Lighter, refreshing… I thought this might be the winner.
Picked up a pint of pistachio gelato at my local shop and then put them in my refrigerater.
It was definitely better than the tiramisu and cannoli. The cold, clean flavor was a nice change of pace. But I think there is still a better choice.
- Fruit Tart: I wanted something simple. Something not too heavy.
Bought a ready-made tart crust, some pastry cream, and a bunch of fresh berries from the market.
Assembled the tart. It was easy, right? The fresh fruit was the perfect, light, and not-too-sweet ending. It was refreshing and cleansed the palate perfectly.

So, after all that experimenting, I think the Fruit Tart is a perfect dessert to go along with * gives a comfortable.
