Okay, so the other day I was following this killer recipe for chocolate chip cookies, but the measurements were all messed up. It called for 16 ounces of chocolate chips, and I was like, “Seriously? How many cups is that?” I’m all about eyeballing stuff, but chocolate chips are kind of important to get right, you know?
Figuring it Out
So, first, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. Turns out, it’s not some crazy secret – there’s a pretty standard conversion. Most places online said that 1 cup of chocolate chips is about 6 ounces. That’s the key, right there.
- Grabbed my trusty kitchen scale.
- Zeroed it out with an empty measuring cup on top (gotta make sure it’s accurate!).
- Started pouring in the chocolate chips until the scale hit 16 ounces.
The Big Reveal
Once I got to 16 ounces on the scale, I took a good look at the measuring cup. And guess what? It was a little bit over 2 and a half cups maybe 2 2/3. And that’s how I got to figure out how many cups there are in 16 oz of chocolate chips!

So, there you have it! No more guessing games when a recipe throws ounces at me. I can handle the chocolate chip situation with confidence, and that’s a pretty sweet victory.
