Alright, so the other day I was trying to bake some cookies, right? And the recipe calls for a cup of chocolate chips. But here’s the thing – I only had this kitchen scale that measures in ounces. No measuring cups to be found. So, I was like, “How many ounces is 1 cup of chocolate chips?” I gotta figure this out.
First, I grabbed my phone and hit up Google. I typed in “how many ounces in a cup of chocolate chips” and started scrolling. You know, the usual.
I saw a bunch of different stuff, but I saw a few answers that are all about the same.
- Some folks online were saying that 1 cup of chocolate chips is about 6 ounces.
- I also read somewhere that 2 ounces is like a quarter of a cup. So doing some quick math in my head, that kind of lined up with the 6 ounces per cup thing.
- Another one confirmed that it is right around 6 ounces, and also equals to half of a 12-ounce bag.
So, basically, I figured out that if you’ve got a cup of chocolate chips, you’re looking at roughly 6 ounces. It’s a good thing to know, especially when you’re baking. I mean, who knew, right?
After I got that sorted, I measured out the 6 ounces of chocolate chips on my scale and tossed them into the cookie dough. They turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself.
