Okay, so the other day, I was trying to come up with a fun food challenge, and I thought, “Hey, let’s try to find fruits that start with the letter J!” Sounds simple, right? Well, it turned out to be a bit more interesting than I expected.
The Initial Brainstorm
First, I sat down and tried to just list any fruits I could think of, off the top of my head. I couldn’t think of any immediately. Most common fruits, the ones we see all the time, didn’t seem to fit.
The Googling Begins
So, I grabbed my phone and fired up Google. I just typed in “fruits that start with J” and waited for the magic to happen.
The Discoveries
A bunch of lists popped up. And wow, there were more J fruits than I thought! Here’s what I found:
- Jaboticaba: Apparently, this one’s a Brazilian grape-like fruit. It grows right on the trunk of the tree! I’ve never seen it before.
- Jackfruit: Okay, I’ve heard of this one, and even tried it. It’s huge and has a kind of meaty texture.
- Juniper Berry: These are used to make gin, did not know that! They’re considered a fruit, in a botanical sense.
- Japanese Plum: Also known as Loquat. I have seen it and it is yummy.
Trying (Some of) Them Out
I managed to find some jackfruit at the local Asian grocery store.
The others? Not so much. I’ll have to keep an eye out for those in specialty stores, or maybe when I’m traveling.
Jackfruit is cool, very different.
The Final Word
So, my little J-fruit quest was a success! I learned about some new fruits, tried one I could find, and expanded my fruit horizons a bit. It’s a fun little game to play if you’re bored or just want to try something new. You might be surprised at what you discover!
