Okay, here’s my blog post about making Ocean Spray Cranberry Orange Relish, written in a casual, conversational style, just like the example:
So, I decided to tackle this Ocean Spray Cranberry Orange Relish thing. I’d seen it on the can a million times, figured, “How hard could it be?” Turns out, not hard at all! But, you know, I still managed to make it a little interesting.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a can of that whole berry Ocean Spray cranberry sauce. You know, the kind that slides out with that satisfying whoosh sound? Yeah, that one. And then I got an orange. A regular, navel orange did the trick. I also pulled out some sugar, just plain white granulated sugar.

The Process
- I washed and zested the orange. I love that my microplane zester, it’s very efficient.
- Next, I peeled the orange and roughly chopped it into chunks. I didn’t go crazy making them perfectly uniform or anything, it all goes together, you know?
- Then, this is where it gets, uh, ‘creative’. I dumped the glorious, cylindrical, jellied cranberry sauce into a bowl.
- I threw in the chopped orange pieces and the zest.
- I add two spoon of sugar.
- Now for the fun part! I just started mashing everything together. I used a fork, but a potato masher would probably work even better. Just get in there and squish it all up!
The Result
I kept mashing until it looked like, well, relish. Not completely smooth, but not super chunky either. Just a good, rustic texture. And that’s it! Seriously, that’s the whole recipe.
I stuck it in the fridge for a bit to let the flavors meld, but honestly, I couldn’t resist snagging a spoonful right away. It’s sweet, tart, and has that awesome zing from the orange zest. It’s way better than just plain cranberry sauce, I can do not want to eat it alone any more.
So yeah, if you’re looking for a super easy, super tasty side dish for Thanksgiving (or any time, really), give this a try. You probably already have everything you need, and it takes, like, five minutes to throw together. Enjoy!
