Make Peach Cobbler in a Dutch Oven using Sprite? Yes! Its the Super Easy Secret.

Okay, folks, let’s talk about this peach cobbler I made in my Dutch oven. And yeah, I used Sprite. Don’t knock it ’til you try it!

Getting Started

First things first, I grabbed my trusty Dutch oven. Make sure it’s a good size, mine is like, I don’t know and big enough.

Prepping the Peaches

I used canned peaches, because, let’s be real, it’s easier. Fresh are good if u have but I didn’t want to deal with peeling and pitting. I drained most of the juice, but left a little bit in there for extra moisture.

  • Two big cans of sliced peaches
  • Some Sugar
  • A dash of cinnamon. My grandma always said, “Measure cinnamon with your heart,” so I did.

The “Batter”

This is where the Sprite comes in. I know, I know, it sounds weird. But trust me on this one.

I melted a stick of butter – real butter, none of that fake stuff – right in the bottom of the Dutch oven. Just put the whole thing over the fire until fully melted.

Then, I mixed up:

  • One box of yellow cake mix.
  • Just enough Sprite to make it a thick batter. Don’t go crazy, you don’t want it soupy. I slowly add it little by little.

Putting It All Together

I poured the cake batter right over that melted butter. Don’t stir it! Just let it sit there.

Then, I spooned the peaches on top of the batter. Again, no stirring! Just plop them on there, evenly as I could.

I sprinkled some sugar on top and then added a bit of cinnamon.

Baking Time

I put the lid on my Dutch oven and let it bake.I used charcoal briquettes, some on the bottom and some on top, to get that even heat. I think to get about 350 degrees, but who knows really. I was just winging it, to be honest.

I checked it every so often, poking it with a knife to see if the batter was cooked through. Took maybe 45 minutes, maybe an hour? Depends on your heat.

The Finished Product

When the knife came out clean, I pulled it off the heat. The top was all golden brown, and the peaches were bubbling. It smelled amazing.

I let it cool for a bit – the hardest part! – and then scooped it out. Served it with some vanilla ice cream, because why not?

So yeah, that’s how I made peach cobbler in a Dutch oven with Sprite. It’s super easy, and surprisingly delicious. Give it a try sometime!
