Okay, so I’ve been seeing this peach cobbler thing all over the internet, and I finally gave in and tried it. It’s that super simple one with canned peaches and cake mix. Sounds weird, right? But trust me, it’s amazing.
First, I grabbed a can of peaches from the pantry. I think it was, like, a 29-ounce can? Something like that. Didn’t even bother to drain them, just dumped the whole thing into a baking dish. Then I grabbed the dry yellow cake mix from the cupboard. I just sprinkled that dry cake mix right on top of the peaches. Didn’t mix it or anything, just sprinkled it evenly, if you consider my sprinkling even.
Next, I took some butter. Okay, it was a lot of butter, like two sticks. I sliced them into those little pats, you know? And then I just placed those butter pats all over the cake mix. It looked kind of strange, but I went with it.

- Get your oven preheated to 350 degrees.
- Pop that dish into the oven.
- Bake it for like 45-50 minutes, maybe even an hour.
You want it to get all bubbly and golden brown on top. Mine took about 55 minutes, I think. I just kept peeking at it until it looked right.
When it was done, I pulled it out of the oven and let it cool for a bit. It smelled so good! Then I just scooped some out and ate it. I can tell you this for sure, people are trying to be more health-conscious these days, and this recipe might not exactly fit that trend. But who cares! This is an old-timey kind of dessert. I guess back in the day, cooks started using cake mix in cobblers to make things easier. And you know what? It works! You get this awesome, buttery crust, and the peaches underneath are all warm and gooey.
Seriously, It’s Good
It was so easy, and so delicious. I’m definitely making this again. Maybe next time I’ll try it with different fruit, or a different flavor of cake mix. The possibilities are endless! You should definitely give this a try, even if you think it sounds weird. You might be surprised. It’s just a simple, old-fashioned dessert that really hits the spot.
