Alright, let’s talk about how I ended up making blueberry syrup for my coffee. So, it all started when I was scrolling through some food blogs and I kept seeing these fancy coffee drinks. They all had these cool syrups, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, who doesn’t like a little something extra in their coffee, right?
First, I went to the grocery store and grabbed some blueberries. You can use fresh or frozen, it doesn’t really matter. I chose fresh ones ’cause they looked good that day. Then, I remembered I needed some honey and water.
Getting Started
- I grabbed a saucepan and tossed in 1 cup of blueberries.
- Next, I poured in 1/2 cup of water.
- Then, I added 2 teaspoons of honey. You can add more if you like it sweeter, but I found this amount to be just right for me.
I put the saucepan on the stove over medium heat. I let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring it every now and then. The blueberries started to burst and the mixture began to thicken up. The smell was amazing, by the way. It made my whole kitchen smell like blueberry pie.

After simmering, I took the saucepan off the heat and let it cool down a bit. Then, I strained the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to get rid of the blueberry skins and seeds. I pushed down on the solids with a spoon to make sure I got all the juice out.
Once the syrup cooled completely, I poured it into a jar. I made sure to use a clean jar so the syrup would last longer. I stored it in the fridge.
The next morning, I made my coffee as usual. I put some ice in a glass, added a few tablespoons of the blueberry syrup, and then poured in my milk. Finally, I added a double shot of espresso. I gave it a good mix. I also tried it with just milk and no coffee, which was really good for a non-caffeinated treat.
And let me tell you, it was delicious! It added such a nice, fruity flavor to my coffee. It’s way better than those plain old sugar syrups. Plus, I heard from somewhere that you can use this syrup in cocktails and other drinks, too. I haven’t tried that yet, but it’s on my list!
