Okay, folks, let’s talk about this celery and apple salad with walnuts I whipped up today. It’s super simple, and I figured I’d share my little kitchen adventure.
Getting Started
First, I gathered all my stuff. You know, making sure I actually had everything before I got halfway through. Here’s what I grabbed:
- Celery – about 3 stalks, looked fresh enough.
- Apples – 2, I picked Honeycrisp because that’s what I like.
- Walnuts – a handful, already shelled.
- Mayonnaise – just regular stuff.
- Lemon – one, for a bit of zing.
- Salt and pepper – gotta have the basics, right?
The Chopping Begins
Next, I washed everything real good. Nobody wants dirt in their salad. Then, I started chopping. The celery, I sliced into little half-moons. The apples, I cored and then diced them up – not too big, not too small, just…bite-sized. I like to leave the skin on for extra crunch, it is more * walnuts, I just gave them a rough chop. I like some bigger pieces, some smaller, gives it texture.

Mixing It Up
I grabbed a big bowl – my favorite one, it’s got blue stripes. I threw in the celery, apples, and walnuts. Then, I squeezed the lemon over everything. Gives it a nice tang and keeps the apples from turning brown, which is kinda gross.
After that, I added a few big spoonfuls of mayonnaise. I don’t measure, just eyeball it. Enough to coat everything, but not so much that it’s swimming in mayo, you know?
Finally, I sprinkled in some salt and pepper. Again, just to taste. I mixed everything up gently with a big spoon, making sure everything was coated nicely.
The Taste Test (and the Result!)
And…that’s it! I took a bite. Crunchy, a little sweet, a little tart, and the walnuts added a nice bit of, well, nuttiness. It’s a good, simple salad. Nothing fancy, but it hits the spot. I put the rest in the fridge to chill for a bit. I think it’s even better when it’s cold.
So, if you are looking for a quick, easy, and pretty healthy salad, give this one a * is very easy, and that is my own practice record for today.
