Alright, let me tell ya ’bout cookin’ them pork chops with apples in that there slow cooker. I ain’t no fancy chef, mind you, just a plain ol’ woman who likes good food that’s easy to make.
First off, you gotta get yourself some pork chops. Don’t matter too much what kind, but I like the thicker ones, they stay juicier. You know, the ones with a bit of bone in ’em? Yeah, those are good. Get maybe four or six, dependin’ on how many hungry mouths you gotta feed. And apples, ya need apples! Them red ones, or the yellow ones, or even them green ones if that’s what you got. Just make sure they’re kinda firm, not all mushy.
Now, some folks like to brown their pork chops first. You know, fry ’em up in a pan a little bit. Gets ’em all nice and crispy on the outside. But I say, why bother? The slow cooker does all the work, makes ’em tender and juicy without all that fuss. So, I just dump ’em right in the pot.

- Pork Chops (about 4-6)
- Apples (3-4, any kind you like)
- Onion (1 big one, or two small ones)
Next, you gotta chop up them apples. Not too small, not too big, just bite-sized pieces, you know? And an onion, too. Gotta have an onion. Chop that up too, not too fine, just so it ain’t big ol’ chunks. Then, just dump them apples and onions right on top of the pork chops. See? Easy peasy.
Now, for the flavorin’. I keep it simple. Some salt, some pepper, that’s about it. Oh, and maybe a little bit of brown sugar, if you like it sweet. Just sprinkle it all over the top. Don’t be shy, now. And a little bit of water, or maybe some apple juice, just enough to keep things from stickin’ and burnin’. Maybe a cup or so, dependin’ on your pot. You don’t need fancy sauces or nothin’, just good plain cookin’. Some folks put in chicken broth, they say that works good, too. I ain’t ever tried it though, water works just fine for me.
Then, you put the lid on that slow cooker, turn it on low, and let it cook. How long? Well, that depends. All day if you want, or just for a few hours. I usually put it on in the mornin’ and it’s ready by supper time. You’ll know it’s done when them pork chops are fall-apart tender and them apples are all soft and mushy. That’s the best part, I tell ya. The house will smell so good it’ll make your mouth water. It smells all sweet and savory, like heaven.
Now, you can just eat them pork chops and apples just like that, or you can make some gravy. I like to make gravy. It’s easy. Just take some of that juice from the slow cooker, put it in a pan, and thicken it up with a little bit of cornstarch. Stir it up good, till it’s all smooth and creamy. Then, pour that gravy all over them pork chops and apples. Oh my, it’s good! And don’t you forget to mash some taters to go with it. Nothin’ beats a big ol’ scoop of mashed taters with pork chop gravy. And maybe some green beans, or corn, or whatever you like. Just make sure you got plenty to go around, ’cause folks will be comin’ back for seconds, I guarantee ya.
Crockpot pork chops with apples are a real crowd-pleaser. They’re easy to make, they’re cheap, and they’re delicious. Even my grandkids like ’em, and they’re picky eaters, I tell ya. So, if you’re lookin’ for a good, down-home meal that won’t break the bank, give these crockpot pork chops with apples a try. You won’t be disappointed. And don’t be afraid to experiment a little. Add some different spices, or some other veggies. It’s hard to mess it up, I tell ya. Just throw it all in the pot and let it cook. That’s the beauty of slow cookin’. It takes the stress outta cookin’, and that’s somethin’ I can appreciate.
So that’s it, my recipe for them pork chops. It ain’t fancy, it ain’t pretty, but it’s good eatin’. And that’s all that matters, right? Now, go on and make yourself some pork chops. And don’t forget the apples!
