3 Ingredient Banana Bread with Cake Mix: Super Simple Baking

Okay, so, I saw this thing online about making banana bread with just cake mix and, like, two other things. I was super skeptical, but I had to try it. I mean, who doesn’t want easy banana bread?

My Super Easy Banana Bread Experiment

First, I grabbed a box of yellow cake mix. Any brand, I guess, I just used what I had in the pantry. Then, the ripe bananas. You need those really brown, spotty ones – the ones nobody wants to eat anymore. Those are perfect for this.

I mashed up three of those bananas. It was kinda gross, but also satisfying. They were REALLY ripe.

• Mashing the Bananas: This took, like, two minutes. I just used a fork, nothing fancy.

Next, I dumped the cake mix into a big bowl. Then, I added the mashed bananas.

• Mixing it Up: I used a spatula and just folded the bananas into the dry cake mix. It looked weird at first, all lumpy and stuff.

I added the water, about a cup of water, and the eggs. I whisked them in the cup before put into the big bowl.

And then started to mix again, it took a while to combine everything together.

• Almost There: I kept mixing until it was mostly smooth. There were still a few tiny lumps, but I figured that was okay.

I poured the whole mess into a loaf pan that I’d greased and floured. I baked it for… I think it was about 50 minutes? I just kept checking it with a toothpick until it came out clean.

• Baking Time: My oven is kinda wonky, so I always start checking things early. Yours might take less or more time.

And… it actually worked! It rose nicely and smelled amazing. I let it cool for a bit before I sliced into it.

Honestly, it was pretty good! It wasn’t the best banana bread I’ve ever had, but for three ingredients and, like, zero effort? Totally worth it. It was moist and had a good banana flavor. It was a little sweeter than regular banana bread, probably from the cake mix, but I didn’t mind. My kids loved it!

So, yeah, I’d definitely make this again. It’s perfect for those times when you have overripe bananas and don’t want to go through a whole big baking ordeal.
