Okay, so I’ve been on this HUGE Dole Whip kick lately. You know, that pineapple soft serve they have at Disneyland? I’m obsessed, but Disneyland is, like, way too far for a regular craving. So, I decided to figure out how to make it at home. It’s actually surprisingly easy, you just need the right mix.
Getting Started: The Mix
First things first, you gotta get the Dole Pineapple Soft Serve Mix. I found it online. Don’t worry, it wasn’t hard to find at all, just a little digging.
Mixing It Up: My Experimentation
Now, the package has instructions, sure, but I wanted to see if I could tweak it, make it even better. I started with the basic ratio: one bag of mix to two quarts of water. I whisked it all together in a big bowl until it was totally smooth, no lumps allowed! Then, I poured it into my ice cream maker.
- First try: Followed the package exactly. It was good, definitely pineapple-y, but a little…icy? Not as creamy as I wanted.
So, time for round two. I wanted MORE pineapple flavor and a smoother texture.
- Second try: This time, I used one bag of mix, but only one and a half quarts of water. I also added about half a cup of canned, crushed pineapple (drained, of course!). I blended the crushed pineapple until it was pretty smooth before adding it to the mix. Then, into the ice cream maker it went!
The Results!
OMG, the second try was SO much better! The flavor was way more intense, and the texture was creamier, thanks to the reduced water and the added pineapple. It was almost like the real deal! I scooped it into a bowl, put a little swirl on top, and felt like I was right back in Adventureland.
I think the key is to not be afraid to experiment a little. I mean, the package instructions are a good starting point, but don’t be scared to play around with the water ratio and add-ins to get the perfect Dole Whip for your taste buds!
