Alright, guys, let’s talk about this Muscle Milk protein powder, the strawberry flavor. I’ve been hitting the gym pretty hard lately, trying to bulk up a bit, and I figured it was time to up my protein intake. So, I grabbed this tub – it’s a pretty hefty one, almost 2 pounds. It says it has 12 servings, which is kind of not many for such a big container, but hey, we’ll see.
First off, I tried mixing it with just water. I used the recommended two scoops, which is a good amount of powder. It mixed okay, a few clumps here and there, but nothing a good shake couldn’t handle. Taste-wise, it’s… well, it’s strawberry. Not the best, not the worst. Kinda artificial, but I’ve definitely had worse protein shakes. I can say that I tried several brands and this is not the worst one.
The stats are pretty decent, I guess. 32 grams of protein per serving, which is what caught my eye. Only 3 grams of sugar, which is good. It also has some calcium and vitamins A, C, and D. I am not very clear about whether this is enough for a day, but it also mentioned “good source of protein, vitamin D, and calcium” so I guess it is good for me. And it’s NSF Certified for Sport, whatever that means, but it sounds legit. Also, the package shows that it has 280 calories in 2 scoops, which is about 70g.

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, usually after my workouts. I can’t say I’ve noticed any crazy gains yet, but it’s probably too soon to tell. I did feel a bit more full after drinking it, which is good, I guess. It’s supposed to have a mix of fast and slow-releasing proteins to help with muscle growth, but who knows.
Some days I feel like this thing is a bit too heavy on my stomach. Like I’ve downed a whole milkshake instead of a protein supplement. Then other days it’s fine. I am not sure if it’s just me or the powder. I have tried different serving sizes, like only use one scoop, it does not taste very well and has a very watery texture. So I decide to keep using the recommended two scoops per serving.
Oh, and I also tried mixing it with milk instead of water one time. That was a bit much for me, felt way too thick and heavy. But maybe some of you guys like that. To each their own, right?
One thing I noticed on the label is that it says “Energizing Snack”. I was a bit surprised about this because I only knew that this product could provide protein and related vitamins. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but on a whim, I drank it before going to the gym, and I felt like my body had more energy. After that, I started drinking it before and after workouts, and I didn’t feel as tired after the workouts. It could be a mental thing, but hey, whatever works, right?
My routine:
- Mix: Two scoops of powder with water or milk, usually water.
- Shake: Shake it up real good to get rid of the clumps.
- Drink: Usually right after a workout, now I will take it before and after the workout.
- Results: Haven’t noticed any major changes yet, but I am feeling full after drinking it.
Overall, I’d say this Muscle Milk strawberry protein powder is alright. It’s not a miracle worker, but it’s a decent way to get some extra protein. I’ll probably keep using it until the tub is gone, and then maybe try something else. Or maybe I’ll just stick with chicken and steak, haha.
