Okay, folks, let’s talk about my little kitchen adventure today with some thawed stuffed flounder and my trusty air fryer.
My Air Fryer Experiment: Stuffed Flounder
So, I had these frozen stuffed flounder fillets in the freezer, you know, the kind with crabmeat stuffing? I thawed them out in the fridge overnight. Always thaw your fish properly, people! Safety first.
This morning, I was staring at them, thinking, “Hmm, how should I cook these?” I could bake them, sure, but then I remembered my air fryer. I’ve been using it for everything lately, so I figured, why not?

First, I preheated the air fryer. I usually just punch in 390 degrees Fahrenheit, no real reason, seems to work. While that was warming up, I took the flounder fillets and patted them dry with some paper towels. Gotta get rid of that extra moisture, you know?
Then, I sprayed the air fryer basket with a little cooking spray – don’t want anything sticking. I laid the flounder fillets in the basket, making sure they weren’t overlapping. We want even cooking, people!
- pat the flounder dry
- spray the air fryer
- Lay the flounder in the basket.
I sprayed a tiny bit of oil on top of the fillets, just to help them get a little crispy. You could use butter, but I was feeling lazy. Then, I sprinkled on some, well, stuff. Whatever seasoning I find in the cupboard, No measuring, just eyeballing it.
I slid the basket into the air fryer and set the timer. Now, this is where it gets tricky. I didn’t really know how long to cook them, I started with 8 minutes, flipped them, and did another 7. Seemed about right.
When the timer dinged, I pulled out the basket and, oh boy, they looked good! Golden brown, a little crispy around the edges, and the stuffing was all bubbly. I poked them with a fork to make sure the fish was cooked through – flaky and opaque, just how it should be.
And that’s it! I served them up with some leftover rice and a quick salad. Super easy, pretty quick, and definitely tasty. The air fryer did a great job, no soggy fish, and the stuffing stayed put. Will definitely do this again!
