Okay, so I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen a lot lately, and I wanted to share my latest adventure with you all. I decided to find out what I could cook at over 450 degrees Fahrenheit. It sounded a bit crazy at first, but trust me, the results were pretty interesting!
First, I grabbed my oven thermometer because I wanted to make sure my oven was actually hitting those high temps. I cranked up the oven to its max setting.
While the oven was heating up, I started prepping some veggies. I chopped up some broccoli, bell peppers, and onions. I tossed them with a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper. I also decided to try roasting some chicken thighs, so I seasoned those with some herbs and spices.
Here’s what I cooked:
- Roasted Vegetables: I spread the veggies out on a baking sheet and popped them in the oven. I checked on them every 10 minutes or so, giving them a good stir. After about 20 minutes, they were beautifully golden and tender.
- Chicken Thighs: These took a bit longer, around 30 minutes. I made sure to use a meat thermometer to check if they were done. The skin got nice and crispy, and the inside was juicy.
- Pizza: I used some pre-made dough, spread on some sauce, cheese, and my favorite toppings. At 450 degrees, it baked in about 12 minutes. The crust was perfectly crispy.
- Garlic Bread: I sliced up a baguette, brushed it with garlic butter, and baked it for about 8 minutes. It came out warm and delicious.
- Potato Wedges: I cut some potatoes into wedges, tossed them with oil and spices, and baked them for about 25 minutes. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
- Bacon: I laid out some bacon strips on a baking sheet and cooked them for about 15 minutes. They turned out super crispy.
- Salmon: I seasoned a salmon fillet and baked it for about 12 minutes. It was flaky and flavorful.
- Asparagus: I snapped off the ends, tossed them with olive oil, and roasted them for about 10 minutes. They were tender-crisp.
- Brussels Sprouts: I halved them, tossed them with some oil and balsamic vinegar, and roasted them for about 20 minutes. They got nice and caramelized.
- Cookies: Just for fun, I baked some chocolate chip cookies. They only needed about 8 minutes and came out with crispy edges and chewy centers.
After everything was cooked, I let it cool for a bit and then dug in. Honestly, cooking at such a high temperature made a noticeable difference. The veggies had a great roasted flavor, the chicken was super crispy, and the pizza was just perfect.
It was a fun experiment, and I was surprised at how many things you can cook at over 450 degrees. If you’re looking to get crispy, golden-brown results, don’t be afraid to turn up the heat!
